Blame it on Jane Eyre

Good God. I have been transfixed and completely engrossed in Jane Eyre. I started the novel Monday afternoon and finished yesterday evening. Now this was difficult, because my husband wanted to watch Margin Call Monday night and I although all I wanted to do was find out what was happening next with Jane- I also wanted to be a good wife- and so I put the book down for the rest of the night. And then yesterday, I of course had to work. I must admit however, once my orders were finished and shipped out (around 2pm- thanks goodness it was a short day), I completely took the rest of the day off (sorry to everyone's emails I'm still returning).

I tried to read Jane Eyre in high- school, but apparently gave up after about 1/3 of the way in- I know this because I found a flyer for my end of the year senior class activities there. But this time I could not put it down- and it is officially one of my favorite books. Although it's ultimately a love story, the dark, Gothic elements that appear throughout the novel completely captivated me and kept my interest. I also really want to see the movie now with Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikowska.

So back to reality, and work, and returning emails in a timely manner... and starting a new classic tonight.

What books have taken your time hostage?

  1. Oh gosh I'm the same with Jane Eyre! I somehow didn't read it in high school OR college but read it on the subway in my early 20s and have read it once a year every since. Favorite. Every time I read it I notice something new.

  2. I think I am going to inaugurate the same tradition- I loved the story so much and now that I think about it- I cannot think of a single book I've loved more
