Canadian Honeymoon: Ucluelet and Victoria

This is the final post of our Canadian Honeymoon Road Trip through Vancouver Island. After we left Tofino, we headed about a half hour down the road to the small town of Ucluelet. I followed Trip Advisor's recommendations and booked us 2 nights at the Terrace Beach Resort.

Jason Priestly (from the original 90210) and his family own this place; and it's so wonderfully down to earth and beautiful all at the same time.

Because the two person beachfront cabin was already booked, they gave us the 3 story beachfront cabin for the same price. 3 story cabin for two people?! We had fun :) Here are the adorable room keys attached to fishing luresWe stayed in the cabin on the left, named the Sea Star. You enter in on the middle level...And then we had this gorgeous view from each of our 2 balconies... it reminds me of the lagoon from Peter Pan.A hop, skip, and a jump away from our cabin was the entrance to the Wild Pacific Trail. Can you tell from my face that I thought it looked a little spooky? But the trail ended up being absolutely amazing and we were soon led out to the oceanThe trail also takes you by an old lighthouse that's really cute. I don't know why but Mr. E and I decided to pose opposite the lighthouse hereAfter the long hike, I couldn't wait to get back and take a nice long bubble bath... that looked out over this gorgeous viewAfter 2 days, it was time to pack up once again and head on down to Victoria. Before leaving, we both scouted out two different places we would take over if we lived here. This cute coffee house would be mine- I was already visualizing the cute library I would create so guests could order their coffee and pastries- and then relax in the next room and read a good bookMr. E chose this abandoned red building for himself. This is the site of his future surf shopAnd then we were off. Driving with the windows down and taking picturesEven though we had taken the same road up, it looked completely fresh to us without rainOur last night we stayed at the Oswego Hotel in the capital city of Victoria. We decided to balance out our very nature driven honeymoon with some city life before we went home. The Victoria Government Parliament Building was fun to see...as was the beautiful Fairmont EmpressWe also enjoyed checking out all the street performersDarth Vader playing the violin was definitely Mr. E's favoriteI enjoyed walking around the shops and splurged on some good chocolates. Mr. Espresso also bought me a beautiful Pyrrha necklace as a wedding gift. He had asked me a few weeks before our wedding if I would mind getting my wedding gift on our honeymoon instead of traditionally right before the wedding. He wanted me to have something from our honeymoon spot so I would always have a special token from our trip. I loved the idea and now I love my necklace which reads, "Unique though two," in French, stamped from an old wax seal of two birds.

After our short time in Victoria, it was then time to go home. But unlike most vacations, I couldn't wait. Our new home was waiting for us. All of our wedding presents were calling out to be opened. And we were married. I couldn't wait for just a normal day of married life.

And hive- it's been wonderful. Married life has been an ongoing adventure of ups and downs. But I've had Mr. Espresso beside me the entire time- with great conversation, making me laugh, and loving me every single day. And now, we're getting ready to start our next Great Adventure of moving across the country... we actually leave tomorrow morning! Leaving jobs in the corporate world for jobs in the adventure industry. Leaving our home city of 2,200,000 people for a small town of 8,700. Leaving sunny southern California for a place that we'll have a White Christmas.

Life is great right?! Thanks for letting me come back and do my honeymoon recaps. I hope the information helped and if any of you have any questions, let me know.

Have a wonderful day!

  1. Wow, this looks like an awesome place to visit! I can't believe you had a THREE STORY cabin!!! I would feel inclined to spend time in each room, just because they were there! Very fun.

Well I'm glad you're excited about a white Christmas because it snowed a little bit today in Jackson. Yeah. Just flurries, but STILL. It's May. Either way I'm sure you'll love it. :-) This place has a certain kind of magic to it if you ask me... it can make all the commodities and comforts of big towns seem totally unnecessary.
