Papa

One year ago today my Papa passed away. Instead of the year it's been, it still feels like just yesterday. I miss him so much.

Canadian Honeymoon: The Allure of Tofino

On our second day in Tofino, Mr. Espresso and I explored around the island. It was our first day with no rain and the air just smelled so clean. So we jumped in our white Pontiac rental and started driving down random roads to see where they would lead us. Here is one such road :)

Exploring a new area with the person you love is an unforgettable experience. Because the memories you make and the places you see, are created, shared and stored within each other.

Mr. E is my favorite person. Besides being super sexy and incredibly kind, he also makes me laugh non- stop. Our honeymoon was no exception. Here he is leading me (with crazy faces) into the wildernessI honestly cannot brag enough about the beauty of this part of the island. Ocean and tree filled mountains in every direction...As we were on our way back to the hotel after hiking, Mr E spotted this furry and tiny creature on the side of the road. Her fur was mangled with stickers and she was in much need of some water. So we coaxed her into the backseat of our car and gave her some much needed food and water. We then left her in very good hands at the ranger station. Here she is trying to claw up the seats of the rental car ;)After the kitten rescue, we headed back to our hotel for some R&R. We stayed at the Long Beach Lodge Resort. The Great Room here was beautiful...We loved relaxing in here after a long day of exploring. Here's Mr. E checking out the wine list for usThe Great Room also has a balcony attached where guests can venture out and smell the sea air. Here we are right before leaving to get ready for dinner at the Wickaninnish Inn. The Wickaninnish is a very beautiful (and expensive) hotel in Tofino. I highly recommend having dinner there at least once. The view is gorgeous during the day and at night it's incredibly romantic. Check out this link here for a view of the dining room. The next day we packed our bags and headed out to our next destination in Ucluelet. On our way, we stopped and checked out some of the different beachesMiles of coastline with barely anyone there...There is also tons of beautiful driftwood that comes in with the tideAnd it all backs up to the dense, lush forest. What more could we ask for?

Up Next: We explore Ucluelet and Victoria

Light Posting

This past weekend we had a Garage Sale on Saturday and a Going Away Party with my mom's side of the family on Sunday. Whew! Garage Sales just know how to suck the life right out of you. But then we had Sunday with my family and it was so amazingly wonderful. I'm going to miss them all so much! We even had one of my uncles fly in from Colorado and suprise us- just adding to how blessed we already felt. I was going to get back to posting today but my sister (pictured on the far right) is sick today with the flu- so since I knew you'd understand- I'm going to take today off too and take care of her. I'll be back to posting tomorrow. Have a wonderful day!

Canadian Honeymoon: Hello Tofino

Last we left off we were battling the elements on our way to TofinoBecause we knew the drive would be long, Danny suggested stopping at a Best Buy in the last big city we saw to stock up on cds. Because what's a road trip without music right?

And we were off... Driving through the rain....In a place completely foreign and beautiful to us...And before we knew it, we were in TofinoTofino is a charming and quaint fishing town located in the western center of Vancouver Island. This place is seriously straight out of a Nicholas Spark's novel.

We lunched at a cute little place called Schooner Restaurant. And then explored around the town a little moreThe air just embodied the word "crisp"Even their shipping yards look clean and prettyThe first time I heard of Tofino I was interning over at Quiksilver Headquarters. We had a surf camp here and I always enjoyed looking at the photos from their spot. I made sure to take a photo when we drove by for old time's sake :) The actual town of Tofino can be explored in less than a day, but there's plenty more to do around this part of the island...which is why I think this spot is great if you're looking for a relaxing honeymoon/ getaway
Up Next: We explore the surrounding area

I want...

As someone who likes puzzles and loves cookies... I thought I'd share my new want from here
I also think these would be great for a dress up party...and these for a wedding. How great would it be if everyone at table 8 got to snack on their number?

Canadian Honeymoon: First Stop- Brentwood Bay

When we flew into Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, it was night time. We were in a foreign country, on an island, on our honeymoon, and I instructed us to take the wrong turn. Even though Geography was my major.... sometimes I'm not so good with the directions :)

We wandered around for about an hour, but then stopped at a gas station for directions (my idea) and found out we needed to backtrack... a lot. Eventually we stumbled across our hotel though and it was beautiful. We stayed the first night of our Honeymoon Road Trip at Brentwood Bay Lodge and Spa. I stalked this 5 star luxury boutique hotel for months on the internet waiting for a deal. And then my sleepless nights paid off, I found a deal on Expedia offering an ocean suite room for $150 (they regularly go for $329 during that season).

Our room faced beautiful Brentwood BayI loved sitting on our patio that morning thinking back on our wedding and excited about the trip ahead of us.

The room was great as well, although very messy in these pictures. We had a bathtub with shutters that opened up into the room... A fireplace...And here's our very messy room. I really liked the earthy, simple decor of the hotel. Before we left the hotel we had asked the concierge for some restaurant recommendations. We stopped at one along the river for lunch. It was so beautiful with floor to ceiling windows facing the river. Here we are posing in front of a random totem pole :)And then we were on our way to our next destination: TofinoTofino is about a five and a half hour drive from Brentwood Bay- and then factor in eating stops, sightseeing, etc... and you have at least 6 hours until you get there.
We didn't mind though, the view was absolutely gorgeous. And we thought driving the distance would be a great way to experience a lot of Vancouver Island that we otherwise would have flown over.Plus it was my favorite kind of weatherAfter about 2 hours of driving, most of the drive became mountain roads. Nonstop pine trees in every direction... it was gorgeous

Up Next: We arrive in Tofino

Have you Heard of Booth's Skincare?

This past weekend was my mother in law's birthday. Danny and I almost always get her bath products because she goes through them like crazy and loves a good bath. So this birthday was no exception.

As we were perusing around Ulta, we came across Booth's skin care line. Everything smelled so heavenly and was surprisingly very affordable. I especially loved this Coconut and Fig Body Lotion
this Breathe Easy Body Wash- perfect for a horrible sinus person like myself

and their body souffles. This Tahitian Monoi smelled amazing but they also had an Egyptian one that we picked up for her that was the essence of clean. We're seriously stocking up on some before we move.
Do you have a particular skin care line that you like?
