Pure Laundry Room Goodness

I Heart Organized Pretty Laundry Rooms. I do. They inspire me. I want large glass jars lined in a row with different types of dry detergents and pretty silver scoops. I want ironed linens and space. Awwhh. So pretty.

And so it Begins...

Today is Ash Wednesday- The Beginning of Lent and of things given up. And although I'm non- denominational Christian, and not Catholic, I still partake in Lent every year. 2 Years Ago it was Chocolate. Last year I barely made it through the 40 days without Bread. And this year..
CREDIT CARDS.

I honestly have an unhealthy habit of using them for everything... which is not so good when you're on a budget. Because I'm going to need to track my savings, I'll be brining my lunch every day to work. I won't be buying songs on itunes. My spontaneous and frequent trips to Starbucks will lessen. And I definitely won't be partaking in any retail therapy after a hard day at work. I think this will be my toughest challenge yet... and I thought no bread was hard. Thank goodness the price of gas is somewhat down for now!

In addition to the credit cards, I've also decided to give up soda. I always give up something food related so I guess it's a comfort thing :) I will miss you DP!

If I were giving these up for myself, I know I probably wouldn't make it the complete 40 days. I'd tell myself that I deserve the soda or that a credit card really is the only option. But since this is for God, I feel a stonger accountability for my actions. Wish me luck on my new budget oriented and sodaless lifestyle! :)

Martha's Cinnamon Swirl Cookies

Right before Valentine's I decided to try out the Cinnamon Swirl Cookie recipe I saw on the last page of the February Martha Stewart Living. They turned out delicious and I highly recommend trying the recipe yourself. My only tip- I suggest lowering the suggested oven time to less than 19 minutes to make them a little softer.

The dough may be the best I've tasted yet. The orange zest just put a whole new spin on it. And sadly for my waist, I could not stop swiping up some.

And the finished product!

Work Has Taken Over My Life

I've been working endless hours at work and I'm exhausted. I miss having more time with my husband. I miss my weekends. And I miss blogging.

So the benefit of all this: I've been getting more inspired to start my affordable yet chic wedding planning services. I'd get to work from home and do what I love. We shall see :)

IN-N-OUT vs. WORKING OUT

Yesterday I bent my no fast food rule for some IN-N-OUT. So delicious! So choice! And if some popped in front of me right now- I'd scarf it down in 3.2 seconds. It's that good. I even got stuffed half way through, but did I stop eating? Nooooo. That would be wrong on many levels.

And the outcome- I totally felt the difference when I went to the gym after work. I got tired faster, and I definitely had to push myself to go my normal mileage. It just goes to show that what you put in your body, affects how you feel and act. But seriously- I want another one.

Citrus Centerpiece

Two coincidental things happened Saturday. 1) I finally packed up the last of our Christmas boxes which had been thrown on top of our dining table. And 2) My dad brought over a gigantic bag of oranges from my Grandparent's tree. So what was I to do but make a centerpiece out of the oranges for the table right? I should have taken the pictures during the day but I think it looks ok. I'm either going to get a white tablecloth or white placemats instead as well.

The Herbs are Coming In

A few years ago I decided to start growing my own herbs. Some have died. Some have been pulled out and devoured by Maverick. And some I just never found a use for. But my Basil I have loved and used continuously. It's perfect for adding flavor to pasta, grilled sandwiches, pizza, pesto, etc... Saturday I bought a new one, but for inside the house. It's sort of my test to see which one does better. We will see...
